Absa Bank Uganda has officially launched the 2026 edition of the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run, setting an ambitious target of 8,000 participants as the initiative continues its mission of keeping girls in school.
Organised in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers (KH3), the purpose-driven run will take place on April 26, 2026, starting and finishing at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Since its introduction in 2023, the 7 Hills Run has grown into one of Uganda’s most impactful charity sporting events, raising a cumulative UGX 900 million to support girls’ education. Contributions have steadily increased over the years — UGX 200 million in 2023, UGX 300 million in 2024, and UGX 400 million in 2025 — benefiting more than 21,900 girls nationwide.
Speaking at the launch, David Wandera, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda, said the run represents more than a fitness challenge.

David Wandera, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda
This isn’t just about running. It’s about creating lasting change. When we keep a girl in school, we are investing in the future of our communities and our country. The support we’ve seen over the past two years has been remarkable, and we believe 2026 will take this impact even further.
The iconic 21-kilometre course winds through Kampala’s historic seven hills — Kibuli, Nakasero, Old Kampala, Namirembe, Rubaga, Lubiri and Nsambya — offering participants a demanding but scenic experience that celebrates the capital’s heritage.
Alice Gita Okecho, Hash Master of Kampala Hash House Harriers, noted that the partnership with Absa has elevated the run’s purpose.
We have organised the 7 Hills Run since 2000 to promote healthy lifestyles, especially within the corporate community. Partnering with Absa has added a powerful social impact — every kilometre run now translates into real opportunities for girls who might otherwise drop out of school.”
Participation has steadily increased, with 6,250 runners taking part in 2025 compared to 5,500 in 2024. This year’s edition also comes with enhanced incentives.

The top two male and top two female runners to complete all seven hills will earn slots in South Africa’s Run Your City Series, while Bakayima has pledged two land titles for the top male and female finishers, further raising the stakes.
Funds raised will support several organisations working to improve access to education and health services for girls, including Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation (DREAMS programme), Amref Health Africa, Windle International, World Vision, Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project, Katalemwa Cheshire Home, and Smart Girls Uganda.
The event has also attracted strong corporate backing, with Pepsi returning as the official hydration partner. Bakayima, Mighty Rides, and 16 running clubs from across the country have already confirmed participation.
