The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team claimed a vital 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe U-17 Women’s National Team in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2026 African qualifiers on Sunday in Harare.

Uganda started strongly and took control of the match early, with Immaculate Acen opening the scoring in the first half after a well-timed attacking move. Shortly after, Lydia Namaseruka doubled the lead with an impressive long-range strike, giving the visitors a deserved advantage before halftime.

The Teen Cranes maintained discipline and composure in the second half, effectively managing the game and limiting Zimbabwe’s attacking opportunities. Uganda’s solid defensive display ensured they preserved their two-goal cushion to secure an important away result.

The return leg will be played on 18th April 2026 at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba in Kampala, where Uganda will look to complete the job. The aggregate winner will advance to face either Kenya U-17 Women’s National Team or Namibia U-17 Women’s National Team in the next round.
