Girls: Uganda 2-0 Morocco
Boys: Senegal [6]0:0[5] Uganda
The semifinals of the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship delivered both celebration and heartbreak for Uganda on Friday.
In the girls’ category, St Noa Girls’ High School continued their impressive unbeaten run, powering into the final with a commanding 2-0 victory over Morocco. Giovanna Aketowanga opened the scoring in the first half, before Lydia Namaseruka sealed the win with a second-half strike, sending the Ugandan side into Saturday’s title clash against Ghana, who narrowly defeated South Africa 3-2 in the other semifinal.
Meanwhile, it was a story of narrow margins for St Mary’s Kitende (SMASK) in the boys’ competition. After a goalless draw against Senegal, Kitende’s fate was decided from the penalty spot, where they fell agonizingly short, losing 6-5.
It was a bitter blow for the Ugandan boys, who had shown strong resilience to reach the semifinals after early setbacks in the group stages.
Despite the disappointment, Kitende will have a chance to fight for bronze when they take on Ghana in the third-place playoff, while the boys’ final will see defending champions Tanzania face Senegal.
