The Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 concluded in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, as Maroons FC clinched the final spot in the Round of 16 with a nerve-wracking 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Wakiso Giants at Luzira Prison Grounds.
After a goalless stalemate in regulation time, Maroons held their composure to triumph in the shootout, securing their place among Uganda’s top clubs still in the hunt for silverware.
Top Teams Still in Contention
Maroons now join 15 other teams in the next stage, including record holders KCCA FC and Express FC, both boasting ten Uganda Cup titles. Defending champions Kitara FC also remain in the mix, alongside SC Villa, Vipers SC, and URA FC, all of whom have a strong cup pedigree.
