After three league wins on a bounce, defending champions Express FC look like they have turned a corner as they host an on-form Onduparaka side in the Uganda Premier League on Friday.
James Odoch’s charges have since collected 9 points from available 9 in their last three games (Won all the three)
They host Onduparaka FC on the back of their 2-1 win against Wakiso Giants which was the clubs 13th away game this season.
Enock Walusimbi got on the score sheet twice and this will give the defender some motivation after an on and off flow of the season.
Express coach Odoch is quoted by the club media: “We’ve been working on a few issues ahead of our game against Onduparaka FC on Friday like our defence because we’ve been conceding unnecessarily especially in our last three games but atleast we’ve tried to work on it.”
“Friday’s game is abit challenging because Onduparaka FC have done well against us on previous occasions, we’re also aware that Mohammed Shaban has been scoring so we’ve prepared well to ensure he doesn’t score. Our target remains finishing in the top four and we can only do that by winning games” he added
The visitors on the other hand have been on a four game winning run since their last loss(against top 4 side URA FC), to show this form is what has seen this club go up the Log to ninth on the 16-team log.
Mathias Muwanga who helped Express win the league title last season will be in goal for Onduparaka for the second time this season hoping to frustrate his former bosses.
Godfrey Lwesibawa scored an equaliser after Mohammed Shaban had put the Caterpillars in the lead early this season in Arua.
Express has won once, drawn twice and lost twice in their home league games at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Express lie 6th with 42 points in 25 games while Onduparaka are in 9th position with 30 points in 24 games on the Log.
Last Result.
Express won away at Wakiso Giants 2-1 in their last game while Onduparaka edged 16 time record Champions SC Villa 1-0 with a Mohammed Shaban goal.
Team news.
Express welcomes back Abel Etrude from injury while Mahad Yaya Kakooza and Godfrey Lwesibawa are still unavailable.
Denis Otim is also out nursing a cut on the eyebrows which he picked up on national team.
