Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will host table leaders She Corporate FC in a crucial top-of-the-table clash in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League on Sunday morning.
She Corporate go into the match with momentum after edging Lady Doves FC 1–0 in their previous outing, while Kawempe were held to a 1–1 draw by She Maroons FC in Luzira.
The reverse fixture earlier this season saw Kawempe secure a 2–0 victory in Njeru thanks to a brace from Latifah Nakasi.
The Sharks currently lead the table with 35 points, two ahead of the Valley Warriors, meaning the stakes are high for both sides. A win for Kawempe would take them to the top of the standings, while victory for She Corporate would extend their lead to five points.
Kawempe head coach Ayub Khalifah says his team is fully focused on securing maximum points.
“We have completed our final training session and all players were involved. We have no injuries in the squad,” Khalifah said.
“We failed to win our previous game, which gave our opponents an advantage to move to the top of the table. However, we go into this game with one aim to win the three points.”
He added: “She Corporate are a tough team, but I have always said we teach attacking football, and we hope it will help us win the game on Sunday.”
She Corporate will look to joint top scorer Jesca Namanda, who has scored 10 league goals this season. Kawempe’s attacking threat will largely depend on Latifah Nakasi and captain Agnes Nabukenya, who have netted eight and seven goals respectively.
In the last seven meetings between the two sides, Kawempe have recorded one win, two defeats and four draws. Notably, Kawempe have not won a home game against She Corporate in that period.
