Three Uganda boxing Federation officials graduated as ; Allon Ndyamuhakyi, Rudolf Abbas and Twaib Mayanja were some of the beneficiaries from the 5day annual African Boxing Union Convention hosted in Uganda from 18th-23rd August at Hotel Africana
Over 70 delegates from across the continent led by African Boxing Union President Houcine Houchi took part in different engagements to pave a way forward for the sport on the continent, some of the activities included new union officials appointments, launch of it’s merchandise, a youth title that will be contested for by boxers between the age of 18-23 and and a fight between Ugandan John Sserunjogi and Egypt’s Ahmed Boloshy for the African Boxing Union Super middleweight title which was won by Serunjogi by knockout.
One of the key drivers for this convention was elevating boxing officials’ standards. In line with this, Italian instructor Guido Cavalery led a two day technical seminar from which the three Ugandan officials under the Boxing Federation’s sponsorship graduated.
According to Federation President Moses Muhangi, these three are set to conduct a workshop to pass on the knowledge to all other technical officials under the federation.
Muhangi also extended his gratitude to Salim Uhuru and Maureen Mulangira, President and treasurer respectively of the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission who were the local hosts.
