NBL Playoffs: UCU Lady Canons take lead in semifinal game series

Despite KIU Rangers bringing on a defensive approach, UCU Lady Canons managed to edge the semifinal series 2-1 lead in the National Basketball League Play-off at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday evening.

Shakira Nanvubya and Hajara Najjuko were the star Women on the day as they both scored double digits 14 and 11 points to help the Lady Canons.

UCU won game 52-48 going on to regain their lead in the series with a long ball and forcing the Kansanga side into avoidable mistakes.

Thé Nicholas Natuhereza coached side managed the win without him on the bench, starting the game on the front foot.

They put on a six-point lead in the first quarter 20-14, enlarging it in the second by a 29-21 scoreline to go into halftime.

In the third quarter, KIU Rangers displayed more hunger as they for possession inorder to limit the Canons to head into the fourth 33-36.

However Lady Canons held on to clinch a four-point lead.

Sharon Kirabo and Racheal Nanyonga scored 11 points each for the Rangers to fight for the unachieved comeback.

In the other game, KIU Titans defeated Namuwongo Blazers 76-74 to take 2-1 lead in the series.
