In anticipation of the upcoming under-19 women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers slated for August in Kigali Rwanda, a group of 25 promising young athletes has been carefully chosen to embark on a transformative 10-day training camp at Jinja SS.
This significant announcement was made amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the Girls Schools Cricket Week’s closing ceremony on Saturday, May 11th, 2023, with the esteemed manager of the Baby Victoria Pearls, Lelia Namaganda, leading the declaration.
Encouragingly, Namaganda underscored the competitive spirit of the occasion, emphasizing that the final selection of 14 players would be determined post-camp, urging each participant to strive for excellence.
Guiding these aspiring athletes throughout the training journey will be the experienced leadership of Baby Victoria Pearls’ head coach, Yusuf Nanga, alongside his trusted assistant, Ivan Kakande.
Notably, among the selected cohort, Olila High School and Jinja SS have made substantial contributions, each boasting five players within the squad.
The squad also features two players currently in Form Six vacation, who remain eligible for selection.
