The 2023 Netball World Cup draw was held on Wednesday night in Cape Town – South Africa, the competition host city and nation.
In the draw, Uganda’s national netball team, the She Cranes were put in group D alongside World’s number two New Zealand, Singapore and Trinidad & Tobago.
In the competition that will start next year on July 28th and end on 6th August, She Cranes will once again look at New Zealand as their major threat in the group having lost to them at both the 2023 Summer Commonwealth games in Birmingham and Fast Five world series.
Other groups will have;
Group A
Australia, Zimbabwe, Tonga and Fiji
Group B
England, Malawi, Scotland and Barbados
Group C
Jamaica, South Africa, Wales and Sri Lanka
The tournament will have a normal structure where two teams will get out of each group to play the quarter finals, four into the semis and later on the two onto the final.
She Cranes finished sixth in the last edition in 2019 after losing the classification match to South Africa.
