2023 AFCON Qualifiers:Uganda hit by Tanzania in Egypt

The Uganda National Football Team, the Cranes have suffered another blow to their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to neighbors Tanzania on Thursday.

Hosting in Egypt, Uganda got punished by Simon Msuva who found the back of the net in the closing half for Tanzania to hand the Cranes yet again another blow.

The Cranes were sloppy throughout the game as they struggled to create any meaningful chances upfront to trouble Tanzania’s Aishi Manula.

Tanzania on the other side, looked threatening and had a couple of goalscoring chances. Novatus Dismas had two of his freekicks parried away by Jamal Salim and Saidi Khamis failed also to beat the Ugandan goalkeeper.

The decisive moment of the game came in the 68th minute when Msuva made a brilliant run into the box ahead of Halid Lwaliwa to finish off Dickson Job’s well drive in low cross.

With the loss, Uganda remains bottom of Group F with just a single point to show in three games. For Tanzania, they move to second place on the log with four points.

These two teams meet each other again on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania to finish off their double-header.
