KCCA FC forward Rogers Mato scored a late winner for Uganda Cranes as they defeated Tanzania 1-0 in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar Es Salaam .

Mato’s goal came at almost the death of the game to help the Cranes keep their qualification chances alive.

The youngster ran onto Farouk Miya’s defense spitting through pass before calmly slotting past Aishi Manula to secure Uganda maximum points away in Tanzania.

Apart from Mato’s strike, the game was short of chances as both sides struggled upfront.

Simon Msuva had Tanzania’s only goal scoring chance of game early on but his shot was saved by Jamal Salim.

At the end of the 90, Uganda won the game 1-0 and now climb to third position in Group F with four points, level with Tanzania after four games.

Uganda will play Algeria next qualifier game while Tanzania will hosts Niger next. Algeria has already sealed qualification to next year’s finals as they sit top with maximum 12 points while Niger are bottom with two points.
