2022 Masaza Cup: Bulemeezi slapped with hefty fine


The organising committee of the Masaza cup has slapped Bulemeezi with a fine following the incidents that happened in and after the second leg against Buddu in Luweero.

The game was won 2-1 by Bulemeezi however much they didn’t go to the final because of the away goals rule after tieing 2-2 on aggregate only to second the Buddu fans wild.

Bulemeezi was found guilty because of unsporting acts when their fans were seen chasing the referees, beating up Buddu fans who got severe injuries and destroying property like Motor Cycles, cars among others.

As a result, Bulemeezi who have been suspended from the competition this year will not play their third place play-off game against Singo will also have to pay 5 million Uganda Shillings before the finals this year.

They will also have also been two goals and two points deducted effective next season (2023)if a status of playing three games on neutral grounds with the venue yet to be announced.

Some of the team players like Assistant Captain Oscar Sulaiman Ssesazi, Oloya Habibu, Zizinga Ashiraf and Bagenda Abdul have all been suspended from the tournament for two years and Coaches Ronald Ssali, Yusuf Kinene and Ssekamate Leo for one year.

For Captain Ssesazi his case will be handled by FUFA because his years of plaing in the Buganda Kingdom tournament are done.

On the side of the fans, Bulemeezi fan Bunya Patrick was slapped with a heavier punishment of being banned for five years of not getting involved in the tournament.

It remains to been seen whether Ssingo will automatically be given third team play off reward or it will require to pull a team from the quarterfinals.

Apart from Bulemeezi no other team has been affected and final still remains as Buddu will play Busiro in the final.

The dates and venue will be communicated.
