Ugandan long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has broken the 10,000m Commonwealth games record to win gold at the Commonwealth games in Birmingham.
This is after he ran a fastest time of 27.09:19 to win the 10,000m race and break Joshua Cheptegei’s record of 27:19.62 he set in 2018 Gold Coast
Kenyans’ Daniel Ebenyo (27:11.26)and Kibiwott Kandie (27:20.34) finished second and third to settle for Silver and bronze respectively.
Uganda has now won five consecutive 10,000m gold medals at the Commonwealth games.
This is Uganda’s second gold medal at this year’s games in Birmingham after Victor Kiplangat won the men’s marathon on Saturday.
