We can’t underestimate lowly Proline – Vipers’ Golola warns

Vipers SC will seek to tighten their grip of the 2019-20 StarTimes Uganda premier league title with a visit to StarTimes stadium, Lugogo to face Proline FC.

The Kitende based side sits comfortably atop of the SUPL standings, after defeating Kyetume FC 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende to extend their 4-point lead while Proline FC is rock bottom on 12 points despite edging past Maroons FC 2-1 away in Luzira.

Vipers are have won 1 and lost 1 in their last two visits to the StarTimes stadium – they beat Police 3-1 earlier in the first round and later lost to KCCA FC 1-0 in a game that ended their unbeaten run in the first round. They also fell to 2-1 to Proline FC in the 2019 Uganda cup quarterfinals game in Lugogo last season.

Although the Venoms are 4 points above KCCA FC and are facing lowly Proline FC, Coach Edward Golola has cautioned his players against being so comfortable as the title race is far away from being over.

We know how desperately both teams need the three points but only one can get the best from this game. The fixtures are as tight as you can see and we have cautioned the boys not to get so comfortable because we are not yet there.

Golola warned.

He also promised the fans an exciting encounter as he thinks the lowly side is well motivated to do whatever it takes to stay in the league.

We beat them in the reverse fixture but they are now quite motivated and are also a good side when playing at home. It’s going to be an exciting encounter. But we are focused and are not ready to slip up,”

He added.

Meanwhile, Proline FC’s Coach Anthony Bogere is confident his side will survive relegation and promises attacking football with results.

We shall attack just like it was against Maroons, of course, every game is a final, and we play to win each game and tomorrow won’t be any different”

Bongole said.

In the reverse fixture during the first round, Fahad Bayo ( a former Proline FC striker) scored the only goal of the game to separate the two sides at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
