UPL: Vipers edge UPDF to re-affirm their title hopes

After winning their previous game against URA in Lugogo, Vipers SC edged UPDF FC 2-1 with a hard fought display at St Mary’s Stadium kitende on Friday evening .

Allan Okello’s curving shot at the edge of the 18 yards box put the hosts in front ten (10) minutes into the game from Bright Anukani’s assist.

Nine minutes after the restart, Eric Kenzo Kambale capitalized on Moses Waiswa’s pass to doubled the lead for the Venoms.

Bright Vuni delivered one for the visitors in the 72nd minute from Daglas Oyirworth corner kick.

Into the game highlights, Vipers dominated the first 30 minutes of both the first and second half with Moses Waiswa, Allan Okello, Anukani dominating and several attempts from Eric Kenzo Kambale.

The Army side were so dominant in the final 15 minutes of the both first and second half with several attempts from Ezekiel Katende.

Vipers goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereze and UPDF’s Ezekiel Katende collided and both had to be subbed off after sustaining injuries.

Vipers re-affirm their title charge as they move to the 2nd position with 41 points and one game behind the table leaders Kitara while the army side stay in 15th position with 16 points.

The Venoms will visit title challengers SC Villa on 9th April at Wankulukuku as the UPDF have to wait upto 16th April when they host Gaddafi.
