Twelve home-based players have been summoned by the Team Uganda (Silverbacks) management to start training ahead of the upcoming FIBA AfroBasket 2021 qualifiers in Alexandria, Egypt.
Fayed Baale and Innocent Ochera are some of the new inclusions. Fayed Baale was part of the UCU Canons team that made it to the 2019 FUBA NBL finals while Innocent Ochera was an intergral part of the Ndejje University team that made playoffs.
David Kongor and Titus Odeke join club teammate Baale while City Oilers has Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, Tony Drileba and Ben Komakech.
Other notable players summoned include Joseph Ikong, Geoffrey Soro, Ivan Muhwezi and Stanley Mugerwa.
The team (Silverbacks) that will be handled by Mandy Juruni, will start training on Tuesday 6th, October 2020 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, and after one month, a group of seven players will be selected to join the the six foreign-based players for the training camp and event in Alexandria.

Uganda was pitted in Pool E alongside host Egypt, Morroco and a team to be announced after the last Pre-Qualifiers tournament in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The First window of the qualifiers are slated for November 27th- 29th while the second and last qualifier tournament will take place between 19th-21st February, 2021.
