SC Villa continued their strong start to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over rivals Express FC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Wednesday.

Patrick Kakande put the Jogoos ahead in the fourth minute, tapping home from Ibrahim Kasinde’s delivery.

Villa remained dangerous, with Reagan Mpande narrowly missing from distance as Express struggled to find their rhythm.

The Red Eagles improved after the break and came close to an equaliser through Isaac Wagoina, who headed wide from Shafic Batambuze’s cross in the 66th minute. Peter Onzima also saw a dangerous cross go across goal without a finishing touch.

Villa sealed the points deep in stoppage time when Andrew Otim capitalised on a goalkeeping error by Mathias Kigonya to score into an empty net.

The victory lifts SC Villa to third place with seven points, while Express remain ninth with three points from three matches.
