Uganda Cup: Ayiekoh falters at the start

Kyetume had to wait for penalty shoot-outs to eliminate Maroons 5-4 after a 1-all draw in the 90 minutes of the game to book a place in the quarterfinals for a second year running.

Baker Buyala put the slaughterers ahead in the first stanza of the game but Maroons equalized in the second half through Abraham Tusubiira.

The 2 sides were missing services from some notable players due to National team engagements. Salim Sowedi stood in for Joel Mutakubwa Kyetume and indeed lived up to the billing with a number of saves including denying Tusubiira from the spot for the result to stand 5-4 at the end.

This was Charles Ayiekoh’s first game as head coach of Maroons since taking over from Douglas Bamweyana.

The other game played saw Light SS FC eliminate UPDF FC with a 1-0 margin to make the last eight.
