Power, skill, entitlement and glamour will be on the loose as the Uganda Boxing Champions League season 3 climaxes -at the UMA show grounds in Lugogo.
26th December 2024 (Boxing Day) is the D-Day the Finals will go down with different boxers Vying for both personal and community glory.
However in the mix, a corporate fight will be on the cards with a huge number of music and boxing fans expected to flog the UMA Main Hall as long time rivals Grenade Official and Rickman Manrick take their beef to the ring.
Belts and cash prizes are the rewards winners from each bout will take home plus and automatic stay in a given weight category for the upcoming season since it’s the top two who don’t have to re-approve themselves.
Getting into the different bouts on the day, a National Open Light middleweight (Elite 71 kgs) will resurface as experienced Owen Kibira( Lukanga Boxing Club) will take on power dominated Nerrick Tumusiime (Kololo High BC).
Kibira coming to the season changed weight, upgrading from Welter weight, something that took him back to the National Open in-order to stamp his current weight thus coming out of the season unbeaten with two knockout.
For his opponent, Tumusiime who lost just once this season to Serugo Bashir will look to replicate the performances he started season 3 with – having it in mind that Kibira has technically been at his best of late.
The same weight category will see Mutaasa Ashraf (Mutajjazi BC) take on Serugo Bashir (Zebra BC) in a bout that has the word interesting all over it.
Transforming from Cricket to boxing, spent the biggest chunk of his first season, training less and reading for his final Senior Six examinations – Mutaasa will have believe in the training he’s had lately so that he can win this and crown his year with glory.
On the other side Serugo, one who many didn’t see make a comeback fought his two last bouts in Mando style – one of them being against Tumusiime Nerrick.
Therefore he will look to ride on that as he looks to maintain that edge he’s had all season.
In the welterweight category, all under coach Lola Kalyango – it will be a COBAP affair as emerging talent Nuhu Batte will take on Bombers Captain Matovu Ukasha aka Ukasha Lee to see who takes the belt home.
However it’s it’s yet to be known where Coach Kalyango will seat during the bout.
Nuhu who has had the best of his debut seasons in the limelight as an Elite will want to pick up his season 3 glory in style – sighted as a skillful boxer for many years to come, the teenager is set to prove that his the King of the weight.
While Ukasha on the other side, will want to maintain his winning streak and go home with a belt despite the few controversies and unconvincing bouts a long the way.
In the same weight, Kiwatule’s Mukwaya Edward will take on Kanaabi Alex of KCCA.
Mutajjazi’s Kimuli Henry will also continue to ask East Coast’s Murungi Kasim questions in the Featherweight Elite 57 Kgs just like Fan favorite Kemis Ibrahim will of Adriko Jimmy in the Elite 60 Kgs.
