Tanzanian international, Mbwana Samatta has completed his dream move to English premier league outfits Aston Villa on a four and half year contract. The Striker joins the club from Belgium top flight side Genk subjected to a work permit and international clearance being granted.
The move has come in a time when Villa are without any recognised marksman after their top man Wesley Moraes got injured on Boxing day while Jonathan Kodjia left the club for Qatar’s Al-Gharafa.
Samatta will bring his scoring boots at Villa Park after netting 43 goals in 98 appearances at his former club, and he has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season including a memorable UCL goal against Liverpool last year.
Being the first tanzanian to play in the English Premier League, Samatta has expressed his delight and what it means for him and the people of Tanzania.
For me it means a lot. In Tanzania, the people who love football, they always watch the Premier league, it will be a moment they’re going to watch one of their own playing in the Premier league
Samatta becomes Aston Villa’s third signing of this transfer window after Pepe Reina and Danny Drinkwater, who both joined the club on loan from Ac Milan and Chelsea respectively
