The Drum returns after 2 years of absence

The prestigious FUFA Drum has returned after two years of absence due to COVID-19.

This development was confirmed by FUFA on Wednesday 29th June 2022 during the launch of third edition of the tournament set to kick off between 30th and 31st July 2022.

This year’s competition will be played in a knockout home and away format unlike the previous two editions where teams were pitted in four groups.

2018 winners Buganda have been pitted against Kigezi while 2019 winners Acholi will battle Bunyoro in the two legged knockout phase.

The Drum was officially launched in January 2018 at FUFA House by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, as a new football tournament aimed at taking the beautiful game to the masses in Uganda.

It is played between 16 provinces of Uganda and is managed by official FUFA regulations.

Buganda emerged inaugural winners of the FUFA Drum after defeating West Nile 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged final.

Busoga will play Teso, West Nile play Karamoja while Bukedi will battle Kampala.

The tournament was last played in the 2019 when Acholi Province defeated Bukedi 5-3 in shoot outs to win the sheild at Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira town.

It was never played in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that put everything across the globe under a stall.
