Vipers SC defeated Arua Hill on Tuesday evening in a rescheduled StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Barifa Stadium to close in on their gap with the leaders KCCA and Villa.
Nigerian forward Aboubakar Lawal scored the all important goal earlier on in the game to help the Venoms secure a vital victory in Arua.
With the victory, Vipers on 39 points now move to just four points below leaders SC Villa, who have played three games.
The Venoms are also a point below second placed KCCA FC, who have a game more.
Apart from Lawal goal, both side found the back of net only for their efforts to be flagged offside.
Lawal was first to be denied his second just before halftime before Arua Hill’s youngster Innocent Media also saw his goal ruled in the second half after receiving a ball from Isaac Ogwang
Milton Karisa also rattled the crossbar for the visitors while Arua Hill’s Rashid Toha saw his freekick parried away by Fabien Mutombora.
Vipers will now play SC Villa next on Saturday at Wakulukuku aiming to reduce on the points difference while Arua Hill will play Onduparaka in an Arua derby.
