SC Villa collected their first win of the season, humbling new entrants NEC FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday evening.
The second runners from a last season netted three past NEC who didn’t have a reply by the end of the 90th minute.
Left back Umar Lutalo opened the scoring in the 9th minute thanks to a a well laid pass from the left. Despite Villa’s lead the game remained so close in terms of possession.
Five minutes to the stroke of half time, John Paul Acire netted an own goal from a well delivered ball from the left flank by Youngster Patrick Jonah Kakande who was bravely able to take on two NEC players.
In the three minutes of added time, former SC Villa goal keeper Samson Kirya mistimed a ball well delivered freekick only for Arnold Odongo to head in the third and his second in two games to give the home side a comfortable 3-0 advantage till the end.
This is SC Villa’s first win of the campaign after the 2-1 loss at home to Kitara on the opening day and 1-1 draw away to Maroons in Luzira.
On the other side NEC who have had an impressive start with 1-0 and 5-0 victories against Mbarara City and Busoga United respectively without conceding have lost their first game this season.
In their next games the Jogoos will visit Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium – Kitende on Friday 20th October while NEC will be hosting UPDF at the MTN Omondi Stadium – Lugogo on the same day.
In the other games of the day, after losing two games at home this season, Wakiso Giants were able to collect three points from UPDF at the Bombo military grounds.
The Purple Sharks scored two well constructed goals through new signings Mulamba Blanchar and Kenneth Kimera to earn them three points.
Wakiso Giants will visit the tax collectors of URA FC in their next game at the Metha stadium on Saturday 21st October.
In the early kick off, as Gaddafi welcomed Kitara, Thomas Ochungo headed Gaddafi ahead in the first period while Kabon Living equalized in the second half only for George Ssenkaaba to edge the tie with the second.
This makes it three wins for Hoima side, Kitara in as many games unlike Gaddafi who have lost all their three.
Gaddafi FC will visit Arua hills in Adjumani on Thursday 19th October while KCCA wil welcome Kitara at Lugogo the following day on Friday.
But Matchday three Uganda Premier League action continues on Sunday with Arua Hill itching to host a stubborn BUL side in Adjumani.
