StarTimes Uganda Premier league topscorer Yunus Sentamu netted a late equaliser as Vipers drew 1-all with URA FC in the top of the table StarTimes  UPL clash played at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.

Sentamu’s strike came in the 85th minute to cancel out Cromwell Rwothomio’s first half opener for the Tax Collectors.

Vipers had the first half chance of the game three minutes in , but Richard Basagwa could only head wide after a brilliant Paul Willa cross from the right.

In the early moments of the game, URA found it difficult to get into the game as Venoms high press starved the Blues of any real possession.

The game witnessed it first caution in the 14th minute when Benjamin Nyakonjo was yellow carded for a reckless foul on Aziz Kayondo.from the resulting free kick, Bobosi Byaruhanga had his effort cleared away by Nyakonjo.

After the opening two minutes, the Tax Collectors grew into the game and fashioned their first realistic attempt at goal in the 24th minute when Shafik Kagimu headed wide after a brilliant Brian Majwega cross.

Moments later, Fabian Mutombora made a brilliant save to prevent Hudu Mulikyi from breaking the deadlock as he came off his line quickly to block Mulikyi’s header that resulted from a Moses Sseruyidde’s corner kick.

But Mutombora was beaten three minutes afterwards by Cromwell Rwothomio who received an excellent ball from Kagimu to dribble past Livingstone Mulondo and guide it into the near post, beating the Vipers goalie and breaking the deadlock.

The former Paidha Black Angels striker has now netted eight goals this season in the league.

Vipers had a chance to level the scoreline just before the break but Karim Watambala’s effort from outside the box was easily saved by Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

But moments before, the Tax Collectors would have doubled their lead but Kagimu put his effort above the crossbar after wonderful play by Sseruyidde.

The game went into the break with the visitors holding a goal’s lead over the hosts.

After a dismal opening half, Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba made two changes at the beginning of the first half, bringing on Cesar Manzoki and Ibrahim orit for Richard Basagwa and Milton Karisa respectively.

And Orit affected the game immediately after he came on as he curved in a brilliant cross but Sentamu was unfortunate, heading the ball to the arms of Ssebwalunyo.

Before the hour mark, Kagimu was a beneficiary of poor finishing after he failed to connect well with a ball after he was set up by Rwothomio following a defensive mistake by Halid Lwalila.

Paul Mucureezi, who came on for Moses Ssali had his audacious shot from outside the box saved by Ssebwalunyo a minute after coming on.

With twenty minutes to the death of the game, Sam Simbwa made his second change of the game, introducing on Julius Mutyaba for the tired Ivan Sserubiri.

There was hope for Vipers. City were there for the taking and Ssentamu, who had a poor game prior to that, brought Vipers level as he found the back of the net with a fantastic, accurate finish past Ssebwalunyo after a Manzoki headed flick.

The draw takes Vipers SC to 50 points garnered in 23 games but stay second on the log behind URA who are a point above.
