The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns on Friday afternoon with two enticing matchday 14 fixtures.
In Lugogo, it will be 13-time champions, KCCA FC, hosting tenants Police FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, while in Tororo, MYDA FC will continue seeking for a first league win when they host UPDF at the King George IV Memorial Stadium in Tororo.
KCCA Vs Police – MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
It will be a battle of the ‘most sought after coaches in Ugandan football’ as Mike Mutebi takes on Abdullah Mubiru at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, the stadium where both sides host their games.
KCCA sits fourth on the league standings with 26 points garnered in 13 games while Police is just two points below them in 5th spot with 24 in as many games.
KCCA FC, who have scored the most goals in the league have won 5 of their six games played at home so far this season, while Police FC who will be the visitors at Lugogo this time round have won just two of their 6 away games played so far this season ( MYDA and Kitara).
The Kasasiro Boys travelled to FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, and picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kyetume FC courtesy of a Bright Anukani second half goal.
Police endured a 2-0 loss to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club at home as Cromwell Rwothomio and Shafik Kagimu found the net for the tax collectors.
Head to head
This will be the 24th meeting between the two sides with KCCA FC winning 15 of them and 7 have ended in draws.
The Kasasiro Boys have won the last four games against the Cops at home, scoring 14 goals and have let in just 6 in those games.
Last season, KCCA FC defeated Police 3-2, coming from behind twice courtesy of Jackson Nunda brace and Erisa Ssekisambu’s winner.
What this could mean
A victory for KCCA FC could see them move tentatively to the third slot on the log with 29 points, surpassing Express FC who are on 28 points, while Police FC needs a win to go past KCCA who are ahead of them with just two points.
Injuries/missing and Suspension
KCCA FC: John Revita, Filbert Obenchan, Steven Sserwada, Musa Ramathan
Police FC: Ben Ocen, Samuel Kayongo, Fahad Kizito.
MYDA Vs UPDF – King George IV Memorial Stadium, Tororo
MYDA FC head into this game against UPDF at the King George IV Memorial Stadium, Tororo still seeking for their first league win of the season.
The Malaba based side are the only side that are yet to win a Uganda Premier League game after they were promoted to Uganda’s top-flight league and sit rock bottom on the log with just 3 points garnered in 13 games.
Meanwhile, UPDF FC who are Giant killers sit sixth on the log with 21 points, 9 below top placed Vipers: UPDF have defeated Police, SC Villa and Express in their opening 13 games back in the league.
The home side, MYDA, suffered a 1-0 loss to Busoga United in an early kick-off at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Tuesday afternoon to hand Busoga their first win.
In Bombo, UPDF shockingly defeated Express FC 1-0 at the Bombo Military Playground to end the Red Eagle’s unbeaten run in the season. Alex Kitata was on target for the Army side that day.
Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two sides in their history as MYDA were promoted from the Elgon group, while UPDF got their top flight slot through the Rwenzori group of the FUFA Big League.
What this could mean
MYDA who are seeking their first win could move a place above if they can secure all three points, as a win takes them to six points, a point above Kitara who are 15th.
However, if UPDF can take all three points this time around, they would stay 6th on 24 points unless if they can put more than 14 goals past MYDA .
