StarTimes UPL: KCCA extends their unbeaten start with victory over BUL

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club ( KCCA FC) has extended their unbeaten start to the Uganda Premier League season to eight games.

This is after they convincingly defeated BUL FC 3-1 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.

Innocent Wafula, Charles Lwanga and Davis Kasirye netted the three for the Kasasiro Boys while Musa Esenu got a late consolation for BUL.

BUL dominated most of the proceedings in the early exchanges but struggled to be productive upfront- failing to test Derrick Ochan enough in KCCA goalposts.

But it was KCCA who broke the deadlock at the stroke of the opening half after Wafula pounced on a loose ball to put the ball past Saidi Keni in the BUL goal.

The game went into the break with the hosts holding a slight 1-0 advantage over the visitors.

With 55 minutes on the clock, BUL made their first change, bringing on Joseph Ssemujju for Ibrahim Mugulusi

Ten minutes afterwards, BUL was gifted an opportunity to level matters through a spot-kick after Ssemujju was fouled by Ochan in the forbidden area.

The former SC Villa stepped up and disappointingly blazed his kick over the bar.

Moments later, KCCA doubled their lead after substitute Lwanga collected a ball from Denis Iguma to make a wonderful run and shot past Keni to make it 2-0.

Davis Kasirye further extended KCCA’s lead with a easy tap-in after being found by Herbert Achai.

Ochan couldn’t keep a cleansheet though as Esenu netted late on for BUL’s consolation.

With the victory, KCCA move to 22 points garnered in eight games. They are six points ahead of Vipers SC ahead of the heavyweight game on Sunday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
