In a tense Kampala Derby clash against Sports Club Villa at Mutesa II Royal Stadium Wankulukuku, the Kasasiro Boys of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) secured a notable win, marking their first away victory and their fourth triumph in the current campaign.

Prior to this, they clinched victories against Vipers, Gaddafi Football Club, and a very recent one Solitiro Bright Stars on their home turf.

Heading into the game, SC Villa held the sixth spot on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after 11 league fixtures, making them the favored side because of the table standings.

Yet, KCCA FC, with their recent 3-0 win over Bright Stars and an impressive track record of previous victories against SC Villa, approached the fixture with determination to maintain their winning momentum.

The match showcased KCCA’s sheer determination right from the start, reflecting their urgent need for points to secure a favorable position in the top league.

Katenga Openga Etienne opened the scoring for KCCA seizing the opportunity off a brilliant build-up involving Usama Arafat, Mohammad Shaban, and Gui.

Continuing their dominance, Ashraf Mugume added a second goal for KCCA in the 19th minute, showcasing exceptional teamwork between Usama Arafat, Philbert Obenchan, and Mugume himself.

However, SC Villa, refusing to concede defeat easily, saw Charles Lwanga’s swift header off Ivan Bogere’s corner kick, granting them a consolation goal in the 32nd minute.

Ultimately, the Kasasiro Boys sealed the victory, propelling them from the 13th to the 12th position in the league standings.

This win proved crucial for KCCA, who entered the match on the brink of the relegation zone, having accumulated ten points from their previous eleven encounters, winning three, drawing one, and suffering seven defeats.

KCCA’s triumph in the Kampala Derby not only secured valuable points but also signaled a resurgence for the team, lifting their position and revitalizing their standing in the competitive league.
