StarTimes UPL: Kakooza ends Express winless run


Midfielder Mahad Yaya Kakooza netted the lone goal as Express ended their winless run with a narrow 1-0 victory over BUL FC at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe.

The Red Eagles had lost their opening two games against Arua Hill and UPDF FC heading into the game in Jinja against BUL FC .

Kakooza’s strike came in the second half after a nice pass by Martin Kizza to secure his side their first victory of the season.

Express had to win the game without head coach Wasswa Bbosa and their last season’s best players Eric Kambale and Godfrey Lwesibawa who were out injured.

BUL have lost their opening two games of the season after they were defeated by Police 2-1 in their opening game.

Express play Vipers SC at home in the next fixture while BUL will travel away to Arua to face Onduparaka.

Elsewhere, Wakiso Giants also won their first game of the season as they defeated Police FC 1-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium. Edward Satulo netted the all important goal.

In Fort Portal, Tooro United came from down to secure a 1-all stalemate with Gaddafi FC. Joel Madondo put the Soilder Boys in the lead from a spotkick before Marvin Oshaba levelled matters also from the spotkick before the end of the game.

The other game between UPDF and Mbarara City was rescheduled after heavy rains stopped the game from being played.
