Weekend T20 League Matches
10/03/2024, Sunday
SKLPS Vs Soroti City – 10:00 AM (Entebbe Oval)
Premier Vs JACC – 10:00 AM (Jinja Oval)
Soroti City Cricket Club is determined to end their group stage games on a high note.
In tomorrow’s UCA Men’s T20 Championship League Group A match, Soroti City Cricket Club will face SKLPS at Entebbe Cricket Oval.
The team is focused on securing two victories to solidify their spot in the semifinals.
In this tournament format, the semifinals will see the top team from Group A face off against the second team from Group B, and vice versa.
The winners of these matches will qualify for the top flight.
Soroti City needs at least one win to secure a semifinal spot, while two wins would clinch the top spot in Group A.
This would position them advantageously against the supposedly weaker second team in Group B.
In last season’s T20 opener, Soroti City and SKLPS were in the same group and each won one game in their double-header clash.
Soroti City won the morning game by two runs, while SKLPS claimed the afternoon game by 5 wickets, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter.
In the most recent encounter between Soroti City and SKLPS, which took place in the 50-over league on November 19, 2023, at Buddo Cricket Oval, Soroti City emerged victorious by 16 runs.
Epiangu Joel’s impressive performance, including a 4-wicket haul and a quick 10 runs off 6 balls, contributed to their win.
This victory gives Soroti City Cricket Club an advantage, having won two out of their last three matches against SKLPS.
Both teams enter tomorrow’s game on the back of victories in their previous matches.
Soroti City defeated Tornado, while SKLPS secured a win against Buddo Cricket Club.
Both teams aim to maintain their winning momentum, setting the stage for an exciting showdown.
Last weekend, Ochen Peter from Soroti City had a tough time, scoring only one run in two innings.
As a result, he slipped to the second position on the batting statistics table, with a total of 116 runs from four innings.
He’s aiming to boost his score in the upcoming match against SKLPS to reclaim the top spot.
On the other hand, Malinga Jacob of Soroti City Cricket Club has taken the most wickets for the team, with six wickets to his name. Despite this, he currently sits in fifth position on the table.
He’ll need to secure at least three wickets in tomorrow’s game to move up to the top spot.
Mr. Oluka Richard, who is both a board member and president of the fans of Soroti Cricket Academy, said he’s happy with how the team is performing lately.
He wants them to keep winning to make the city proud as cricket grows in the area, just like the academy wants, by helping players achieve their dreams.
