Former Uganda Cranes central defender Ibrahim Sekagya has been named the Interim Head Coach of New York Red Bulls II
New York Red Bulls II is the reserve team of the New York Red Bulls and play in the USL Championship, the second tier in the American soccer pyramid.
This has come after seven full seasons as an assistant coach at the Club something that has built his knowledge and experience levels.
The former New York Red Bulls defender is going to be interim Manager for the rest of the 2022 USL Championship season, something that isn’t new to him since he once filled in as Head Coach for three matches.
Sekagya retired in 2015 after making 33 appearances with the club. Prior to that, he spent six seasons playing for Red Bull Salzburg, where he won three Austrian Bundesliga titles and an Austrian Cup championship.
Sekagya is said to have helped Steven Sserwada get to New Red Bulls where he has developed and of late been promoted to the senior team, playing his first senior team game in derby against New York City FC.
