Preview: Revenge looms as Express FC visits Busoga United

0

There is only a thin line between Express FC and Busoga United – the two clubs are separated by just a 2-goal difference on the league table. Express FC has one win in the head-to-head stats.

George Ssemwogerere’s troops cross the bridge with one mission – exact revenge on Busoga United who beat in front of their fans at Wankuluku and as well push for a  top 10 position.

The Red Eagles have not scored on their last 2 visits to the Mighty Arena and have lost both encounters by 1 and 2 goals respectively.

Express FC and Busoga United are both on 18 points in 11th and 10th position respectively, only 6 above the relegation zone on the 16-team log and a win for either side would push the victor to 7th position.

Busoga United FC are winless in their last 5 games, picking up only 2 draws in the process while Express FC has 2 wins, 2 draws and one loss in their last 5.

In the reverse fixture, Busoga United traveled to Wakulukuku and picked up a 2-1 win courtesy of Joel Madondo and Boban Zirintusa’s goals, a result that marked the last fixture at the Mutesa II stadium Wankulukuku.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Express FC head coach George Ssimwogerere said his team is fit and set for the second round task.

We are very ready. My team is set and their morale is high. We have tried to train well and correct the mistakes we made last time to avoid repeating them.

The Red Eagles will welcome back Shot-Stopper Mathias Muwanga, defender Hamdan Nsubuga and forward Ivan Ocholit who have all been out with injuries since the first round. However, they face an uphill task to get all the players’ licenses since most of them had Provisional licenses that expired at the end of the first round.

Busoga United will be without talisman Joel Madondo who is set to leave the club and will be banking on Ivan Wani and Lawrence Tezikya to fit in the shoes of the outgoing striker.
