Preview: Battle for Supremacy as KCCA FC hosts SC Villa

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2nd place on the standings will be up for grabs on Friday 29th November, 2019 when KCCA FC hosts SC Villa at Startimes stadium, Lugogo in one of the rescheduled FUFA Startimes Uganda Premier league matches.

The battle between the Jogoos and the Kasassiro boys goes beyond just the routine encounter to a battle between the team with the biggest achievement in the league paying a visit to one that could at any time dethrone them.

SC Villa is the most successful Football Club in Uganda’s top flight with 16 trophies and will be facing KCCA FC who have recently gained momentum to make 13 trophies.

On Tuesday, a Mutebi-less KCCA FC fell 2-1 on the road to Mbarara City FC in their last league outing while a well rested SC Villa last played 10 days ago and won 3-1 away at Onduparaka FC in Arua.

Ahead of the game, SC Villa head coach Edward Kaziba acknowledged the importance of the game and promised fans a good day out.

The boys are ready for the game and they’re aware of its importance. The camp is in high spirits and we are looking forward to a good game.

Said Kaziba.

This game against KCCA FC is a very big one. We know that these are traditional giants and both sets of fans and players know the seriousness of this game. But we aren’t going to lose focus. We want three points.

He added.

He further rallied fans to turn up in huge numbers.

Tomorrow will be an important day for the 12th player, we need their support. SC Villa fans should expect a good game of football. As the team, we know SC Villa fans are the most passionate and we expect that tomorrow.

The Joggos are unbeaten in the last 13 games since their Opening day loss to Kyetume at Mandela National Staduim.

Meanwhile KCCA FC gaffer Mike Hillary Mutebi assured fans of entertaining football and affirmed KCCA FC Versus SC Villa SC as one of the biggest traditional rivalries in Uganda.

Villa- Express, Express-KCCA and the KCCA-Villa are the only traditional rivalries we do have in the league and you will see what will happen tomorrow.

Mutebi echoed.

The defending champions will be geared to reduce on the point-gap between them and current table leaders Vipers SC as the latter is 8 points ahead.

KCCA FC will hope to welcome back Star players Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza who missed the game away in Mbarara through injuries while Nicholas Kasozi, Jackson Nnuda and Julius Poloto remain on the sidelines.

On the otherhand, the Joggos have close to a full squad at their disposal for selection.
