The Uganda Premier League (UPL) Secretariat has released the first-round fixtures for the 2026/27 season, with only 12 of the league’s 18 clubs included in the opening schedule.
According to the Secretariat, the fixtures currently involve only clubs that have fulfilled the necessary requirements to participate in the competition. The remaining six clubs—Blacks Power FC, NEC FC, KCCA FC, Kitara FC, Kataka FC and Entebbe UPPC—are expected to be integrated into the fixture list once they meet the required conditions.
The 12 clubs confirmed for the opening round are BUL FC, Express FC, Lugazi FC, Kigezi Homeboyz FC, Maroons FC, URA FC, Police FC, Mbarara City FC, Ntugasaze FC, SC Villa, Vipers SC and UPDF FC.
The new season will kick off on Friday, August 28, with BUL FC hosting Express FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. Matchday One continues on Saturday as Lugazi FC face Kigezi Homeboyz FC, while Maroons FC take on URA FC. The opening round concludes on Sunday with Police FC hosting Mbarara City FC.
The released schedule covers the first 17 matchdays and has been aligned with the 2026/27 FUFA activity calendar. The Secretariat said the fixture list takes into account FIFA international windows, CAF interclub commitments involving Vipers SC, and the primary player registration period.
In an update, FUFA explained that the six excluded clubs are yet to submit their approved home stadiums for the 2026/27 season as required under the Club Licensing regulations. All clubs had been required to submit their approved venues by 30 July 2026, but FUFA has extended the deadline to 25 August 2026 as a final opportunity to comply.
FUFA warned that clubs failing to meet the stadium requirement by the new deadline will not be included in the Uganda Premier League fixtures and will ultimately be excluded from the 2026/27 season in line with the Club Licensing regulations. The federation added that the affected clubs had already been formally notified of their exclusion from the current fixture list.
The Secretariat also emphasized that the released fixtures remain subject to change depending on television broadcast arrangements and the outcome of the ongoing FUFA Club Licensing process.
