New Vision win Standard Chartered Cup 7th edition

New Vision, a media company won the 2024 Standard Chartered Cup one dayTournament after they edged MTN Uganda 1-0 in the final played at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Saturday 7th September 2024.

The only goal of the final came from forward Julius Kafuluma who stroke the ball into the net to book a ticket to Anfield, Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

In this 7th edition of the Standard Chartered Cup Tournament, New Vision got into the final after defeating Steel & tube while MTN edged past Uganda Breweries 3-2 on penalties.

After bringing in a record 40 teams in this edition, with 8 groups of 5 teams each side Managed to play for 10 minutes, five-a-side (with two substitutes) inorder to aid the advancement of each team.

During the SC Cup tournament, games were played on 4 mini pitches of 40 x 30 metres and these shall be named after the current Liverpool Players: Pitch 1. Mohammed Salah, Pitch 2. Alisson Baker, Pitch 3. Virgil van Dijk, Pitch 4. Trent Alexander Arnold.

For the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams all got trophies and medals.

The winning team, New Vision got the all-expense paid trip to the UK which will include a visit to the Liverpool Academy and meet up with a Liverpool FC legend, watch a live English Premier League Liverpool game at Anfield, a tour of Melwood, the Beatles story and as well as visit to the Liverpool Museum with 3 nights’ accommodation, meals among other perks and treats.
