The Mitina Arcades football tournament hit high on its goals and targets amongst the business community in the suburbs (downtown) of Kampala.

The tournament was established with the aim of creating a friendly community among the people working in the various arcades in Kampala. The tournament has already proved its worth in identifying talent among the businessmen.

According to Moses Lubega, one of the pioneers of the tournament, there has been a lot of talent coming through the tournament.

“I am pleased to see a lot of talent coming from the arcades. The tournament was started on the basis of creating a friendly community not knowing we hold a lot of talent hidden in the arcades,”

Said Lubega.

Solomon Walusimbi who plays for StarTimes UPL side Maroons FC is one of the talents that was discovered from the tournament. Many other players that have risen through the tournament have gone on to feature in the Masaza cup tournament.

The 7th edition of the tournament is expected to climax in August and will also serve as the climax of the 6th edition after the finals were halted by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Admin FC plays Masjid Noor FC in the finals at the Lukuli playgrounds in on a date yet to be identified. The third-place playoff will be contested between Kawunyemu FC and Mukwano Malls FC.

“We expect a total of 48 teams to register for season seven. So far, 16 teams have completed full registration.”

Said Lubega.

The 16 teams which have completed registration are Ham Grounds FC, Lions FC (Kisenyi), Gaza Printers (Nasser Rd), Shamba Complex FC, King Joe FC (Arua park), Avengers FC (Kikaaya), Light Soccer Academy, Nsalo FC, Mpungu Plaza FC, Ndejje Division FC, Zebra FC (Nasser Road), Boost Arcade FC, Soccer for Life Foundation, Masjid Noor FC, Elite Police FC, Dembe Arcade FC.
