Micho adds three more players to his UAE bound Cranes team


Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic ‘Micho’ has added three more players on his team that will travel to United Arab Emirates for two international friendlies with Gabon and Mauritania.

Gabon and Mauritania will play in the upcoming AFCON finals in Cameroon.

Shafik Kuchi Kagimu, George Kasonko and Chris Akena are the players added to the team.

Apart from Kagimu and Kasonko who play in the Uganda Premier League for URA and BUL FC respectively, Akena plays for Al Ahly Shabab in UAE.

But from the initial squad that was summoned last week, experience defender Denis Iguma has been omitted.

The team will depart Uganda for Abu Dhabi on 29th December and will play two AFCON bound teams, Gabon and Mauritania.

The game against Gabon will be played on 30th December, 2021 while that one against Mauritania shall take place on 1st January 2022, with both games played in Abu Dhabi.

The updated summoned squad:

Defenders: Kizito Gavin (SC Villa), Kayondo Aziizi (VipersSC), Juma Ibrahim (KCCA FC), Lwaliwa Khalid (Vipers SC), Najib Fesali (URA FC), Walusimbi Enock (Express FC), Semakula Kenneth (SC Villa)

Midfielders: Byaruhanga Bobosi (Vipers SC), Kakooza Mahad (Express FC), Waiswa Moses (Supersport United), Kizza Martin (Express FC), George Kasonko (BUL), Chris Akena (Ahly Shabab, UAE), Shafik Kuchi Kagimu (URA)

Forwards: Kaddu Patrick (unattached), Sentamu Yunus (Vipers SC), Orit Ibrahim (Vipers SC), Mutyaba Travis (SC Villa), Mukwala Steven (URA FC), Mohamed Shaban (Onduparaka FC)
