UPDF FC coach Hussein Mbalangu wants Nakivubo to become a fortress when his side face Entebbe UPPC in a Uganda Premier League clash on Tuesday.
“We want to make this home (Nakivubo) a fortress,” Mbalangu said ahead of the 4pm kick-off at Hamz Stadium.
UPDF opened their campaign with a goalless draw against newly promoted Kataka on Saturday. Mbalangu believes the main lesson from that game was the need to improve their finishing.
“Glad we have completed our training for the game against UPPC well. The previous game wasn’t bad because the boys managed to play, but we didn’t finish our chances,” he said.
“We came back and put that right, hoping in the next game we can do better.”
UPDF will be without Innocent Assimwe, who has recovered but has not trained for the past two days.
“He will not be able to feature despite playing a good first game,” Mbalangu confirmed.
UPPC, meanwhile, come into the game with confidence after their impressive 1-0 win over defending champions Vipers at Kitende.
UPPC will be boosted by the availability of last season’s top scorer Ambrose Kigozi, midfielder Isa Bugembe and winger Swadik Moro.
New signings Reich Kokolo, Ibrahim Mugulusi and Sharif Ssengendo are also expected to play key roles. Grant Matsiko, Anwar Ntege, captain Ahmed Amayo and long-term absentee Samuel Kawawa remain unavailable.
UPDF will look to Musa Matovu, Hussein Zzinda and Aggrey Kirya to provide the attacking threat.
The two sides have met eight times in the league, with UPPC winning three, UPDF two and three ending in draws.
Mbalangu has called on UPDF supporters to turn up despite the team playing away from home, while also urging UPPC fans to support Ugandan football.
“I call upon our fans to support us despite us playing home away from home. I also call upon Entebbe UPPC fans to come out and support Ugandan football,” he said.
