Masaza Cup: Buddu advance to semifinals without playing return leg

•Buwekula 1-2 Bulemeezi | (Bulemeezi move to semifinals on 2-1 on agg)

•Buddu Vs Kyadondo | (Kyadondo come and Buddu advance to the semifinals basing on 2-1 first leg result)

The 2023 Buganda Masaza Cup Quarterfinal stage came to a close on Sunday with a total of four teams advancing to the semifinals that will be played on the yet unknown dates.

However Kyadondo did not turn up for the return leg contest against Buddu after different reports of Kyadondo asking for the game to be played on a neutral ground.

All this started in the first leg when Buddu edged Kyadondo 2-1  at Hormisdallen in the group stage courtsey of goals by Pius Ssebulime and Meddie Kasule but after there erupted a fight between the fans and claims that that match officials led by Joshua Duula were below standards.

This brought insecurity in thé Kyadondo camp leading to their asking of changing their game to a neutral informing the Masaza Cup organizing committee that they were not to honour the return leg following the controversies in the first leg through their management Committee General Secretary David Kalibbala.

However away from this situation, the Masaka Recreation Ground didn’t look fit to host the game after the Sunday morning heavy rains due to the season.

In the other quarterfinal games, a Kennth Kimera second half strike gave Gomba a 1-0 edge in the game at Mityana Ssaza Ground to seal their place in the semis with a 4-1 advantage on aggregate over Singo and will now face Buddu for a place in the final.

Bulemeezi the two time competition Champions shocked Buwekula with 2-1 away from home at St.Peters technical in Mubende courtsey of a George Masembe brace silenced Buwekula despite the games finishing one all at half time that to a Buwekula goal by Sharafah Mukiibi .

Therefore Buwekula will not advance onto the semifinals because Bulemeezi won the tie 2-1 on aggregate and are to face Mawokota in the Semifinal. Mawokota eliminated Buvuma thanks to a Joseph Kayondo lone strike at Buwama.
