The re-design and continued construction of Startimes Stadium, Lugogo, is expected to start in 3-months time according to the KCCA FC Chairman, Martin Ssekajja.
The home of 13-time Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA FC has for long not been up to standard as fans have continuously been affected by bad weather conditions.
During the food relief hand over to the Club today by Hon. Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Betty Amongi at Lugogo, KCCA FC chairman, Martin Sekajja took off a moment to reassure the fans that the construction and redevelopment process of the stadium will start in three months time from now.
The club has already approved the plans and some other paperwork will be finished in two weeks’ time. After this, we shall advertise the project in newspapers to secure the right contractors.
“The club has already secured Shs 2.5 billion to start the construction project of but the projection of the full work will be over Shs. 10bn.”
The Stadium sitting capacity is expected to be above 10,000 but the engineers are expected to reserve some areas without seats.
Ssekajja also called upon all football fans and sponsors in Uganda to come out and help in this process.
“I urge sponsors and Ugandan football fans who can help the Club in the process to come out, and we shall have a good account of the money collected.”
The construction is expected to start from the VVIP side to the Platinum side then conclude with the Kirussia (generals) side, according to how the money will be released.
The development is expected to take approximately three years and the speed of the work will be based on how the project money will be released.
