Veteran sports journalist Mark Ssali has been appointed the new Kampala International University Basketball Club chairman.
Ssali, a former journalist with Daily Monitor, former panelist at NBS TV’s Home and Away sports show and currently with NTV’s Press Box was one of the three members that were unveiled on Friday morning by Club president Nasser Sserunjogi at a press conference held at the Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo.
The other two are Alex Busigye and Laman Napio Masaba who have been appointed to the franchise’s Board of Directors.
Addressing the media after his appointment, Mark Ssali was overwhelmed with responsibility entrusted in him.
“It feels great to be called upon to serve the game I so dearly love. I hope I can add value to a team with such great potential and have some fun while at it,” he said.
He also took to twitter and expressed gratitude at the appointment;

Mark Ssali is former player and and captain for the National Basketball League and for the Senior National Team, representing Uganda in regional and continental competitions. He is also a former football player having featured for top fight clubs like Nsambya, SC Villa, Diary Corporation and Villa International.
He is also a member of the National Council of Sports and he is the head of Communication and public relations at Uganda National Roads Authority.
KIU was formed in 2020 and currently has both the men’s and women’s basketball teams competing in the FUBA National Basketball League.
