Livingstone Mbabazi: nomad finally returns to Mbarara City

Livingstone Mbabazi

Just over two years after he left the Kakyeka based club, Livingstone Mbabazi has finally returned to Mbarara City after a few weeks of speculation that followed after he was fired at Kyetume FC.

Mbabazi left the Ankole Lions in May 2019 before joining StarTimes Uganda Premier league sides, Onduparaka FC, Wakiso Giants and Kyetume FC in the process.

Mbabazi now replaces Brian Ssenyondo, who was fired a few weeks ago, as Mbarara City head coach on a one and half year deal will be assisted by Sadiq Sempigi and Yusuf “Sheikh” Ssenyonjo as his first and second assistants respectively. The trio worked together during Mbabazi’s first tenure at the club.

In his first tenure, Mbarara City finished fourth in the season before he departed for “greener pastures” at Onduparaka at the end of May 2019.

Mbabazi has been unemployed since being sacked by Kyetume Football Club over a string of poor results and reported fights with the club management.

His first assignment at Mbarara City will be a StarTimes UPL game with BUL at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara on Wednesday evening.
