KCCA Title Hopes Slip After Shock Defeat to Calvary FC

KCCA FC saw their Uganda Premier League title chase suffer a major setback after a shock 1-0 defeat to bottom-placed Calvary FC in Yumbe on Saturday.

Lawrence Olaboro scored the decisive goal just after the hour mark, capitalising on a resilient display from the hosts to hand Calvary a historic first-ever win over KCCA.

Despite dominating possession, KCCA were repeatedly denied by Calvary goalkeeper Shukuru, who produced several key saves to keep the visitors at bay.

The defeat leaves KCCA second on 51 points, four behind leaders Vipers SC, who have a game in hand against Entebbe UPPC. Victory for Vipers could stretch the gap to eight points and potentially 11 should they beat KCCA in their upcoming meeting.

KCCA’s cause was not helped by the absence of 12 players, including captain Herbert Achai and suspended Gavin Kizito.

With a crucial clash against Vipers next, KCCA’s title hopes are now hanging in the balance.
