Ugandan Tracy Naluwooza was eliminated at round of 16 stage in the Kampala International Series tournament( 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying points gathering tournament) on Thursday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Tracy lost against Polish, Wiktoria Dabczynska in two straight sets (21-7,21-8), however Naluwooza is still the race for double.
For Husina Kobugabe, she qualified to quarterfinals after beating Sreeyuktha Sreejith Parol from United Arab Emirates 21-09.
In the men, another Polish Matthew Abela eliminated Ugandan Kenneth Comfort Mwambu at round of 16, winning 2-1, after losing the first set 23-21 but winning in the second 21-12 and final one 21-18.
Seed One’s Kasirye Brian, he also qualified to quarterfinals after beating Equatorial Guinean Obiegue Solomon 21-05.
The other Ugandans who have failed to go past round of 16 in singles, are; Thomas Kateregga and Reagan Michael Nsubuga after losing their respective ties.
In the doubles, Uganda will hold on as they still hope to grasp a medal or two after the pair of Brian Kasirye and Muzafaru Lubega qualifed for quarters just like Reagan Michael Nsubuga and Aslam Oduka not forgetting Kenneth Comfort Mwambu and Abdul Swaburuh Ssempiri.
The other qualified pairs are Expedito Emuddu and Augustus Owinyi, Jordan Abo and Geofrey Alema pair, that of Ismail Mungufeni and Dennis Omara.
The Kampala International Series will close on Sunday 1st October 2023 at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
