NBL Playoffs: Imanishimwe stars as JKL Dolphins bag game one win

Revenge time it was as JKL Lady Dolphins secured game 1 semifinal 60-48 victory over the UCU Lady Canons at the YMCA basketball court in Wandegeya on Friday evening.

In the best-of-five series, this win gives the Lady Dolphins a 1-0 advantage.

Rita Imanishimwe was the lady of day putting up a game-high 20 points with three- three pointers in the final quarter, Brenda Ekone and Evelyn Nakiyinji scoring 9 and 8 respectively.

While on the other side, UCU lady Cannons’ Bridget Aber helping with 21 rebounds just Shakirah Nanvubya who put up 12 and Aziidah Nabayunga contributed, 11 rebounds.

The game was closely contested in the first quater with both side vying for a lead that can provide that confidence of control and it was JKL Lady Dolphins who came out on top with a 20-16 in the first quater.

In the second quater, the margin was no different as a four point lead was maintained by JKL going into the halftime with a 33-29 score.

Only two points separated the side, in the third quarter with a 45-43 score just before Imanishimwe ran riot to seal a well deserved 60-48 win.

The other semifinal will be between KIU Rangers and JT Lady Jaguars and start on Sunday.
