Match Day 4 of the Boys Schools Cricket Week brought a mix of elation and disappointment as the group stages concluded, separating the top contenders from the rest.

With the stakes higher than ever, it’s now do or die as teams advance to the Super Six or bow out to the plate competition.

In Group A, Jinja SS dominated, closing out their group campaign with a resounding victory over Ntare School, thanks to Magezi Ronald’s brilliant century (110), the third of the tournament. Jinja SS’s perfect record secured them the top spot heading into the Super Six.

The battle for the second spot in Group A was fierce, with Teso College Aloet edging out both St Joseph’s College Layibi and St John’s SS Mukono in a dramatic finish.

St Joseph’s started strong but faltered in the last two days, ultimately losing to St John’s in a crucial match.

However, St John’s victory wasn’t enough, as they missed out on the Super Six by a mere 0.1 net-run rate, allowing Teso College to sneak through.

It was heartbreak for St John’s and St Joseph’s, but joy for Teso College and the joy resounds at Soroti Cricket Academy and Soroti at large.

In Group B, Nyakasura topped the group with an unbeaten record, despite not always posting convincing totals.

Their consistent performance ensured their progression.

Shree Sahajand, the champions from the central region, suffered a shocking defeat to Gulu High School, a team with nothing to lose, thus missing out on the Super Six.

Adding to their woes, Delhi Public School snuck into the Super Six, compounding Shree Sahajand’s frustration, especially since they had previously defeated Delhi Public in the regional qualifiers.

Group C saw Busoga College Mwiri assert their dominance, remaining unbeaten as they dismantled Ndejje SS, with Gerald Olipa notching his second century of the tournament (122).

Aga Khan secured the second spot in the group.

As the tournament progresses, the top two teams from each group advance to the Super Six, which will form two groups competing for spots in the semifinals and finals.

The remaining teams will move into the plate event, where they’ll compete for consolation honors in a separate knockout format.
