Jacob Kiplimo won the NN Zevenheuvelenloop (7 Hills Race) in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Kiplimo won with an impressive 41:05, the exact time that fellow Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei posted five years ago in the same race, setting a new world recored for the men’s 15km,which Kiplimo equalled on Sunday.
The 22 year old who also holds the half marathon world record missed the World Championships in Budapest and World Road Running Championships in Riga due to injury, but returned last month with Gold at the Cross Country Tour Gold meeting in Atapuerca.
It was almost Déjà vu as Kiplimo arrived at the 10km checkpoint in 27:49, the exact time Cheptegei recorded during his record breaking run in 2018.
It was also a Ugandan double, Rogers Kibet won silver at 42:44, Kenyan Amos Serem took bronze.
