Uganda Cranes Legend Jackson Mayanja ‘Mia Mia’ as been appointed as the new Head coach of Sunrise Fc in the Rwanda premiere league.

On October 23rd, the club parted ways with Hassan Muhire following a 3 nil loss to Rayon Sport and a string of poor performances that have seen them only collect 6pts from 8 games so far played this season.

Mayanja’s last outing in Rwanda didn’t end well, he served as an assistant coach to Mike Mutebi at As Kigali but the pair was sacked after 3 months.

This followed Mutebi’s honest opinions about the players’ performance during a press conference, his words didn’t seem to sit well with the players hence let the dual go.

Mayanja’s task now is to dig Sunrise Fc off rock bottom of the table where they sit now with a point below 15th and 14th who are on 7pts.

What a way to make his debut in Rwanda as head coach with a trip to Kigali to face his former employers, As Kigali on 5th, November.

His first home game against As Kiyovu will follow and another home fixture against Gasogi United to wrap up his November league fixtures.

Mayanja ever since leaving Rwanda has coached the Uganda National U20 team and recently held an interim role at KCCA Fc towards the end of the last season.

At Sunrise, he will work with 3 Ugandan players including Yafesi Mubiru, Robert Mukoghotya and Brian Ssali.
