Hosts and defending champions Uganda have been placed in Group A Alongside Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan ahead of the CECAFA U-15 Championship set to begin on Saturday.
This was confirmed on Tuesday evening in a draw conducted by the CECAFA Executive Director, Auk Gecheo.
The first game of the tournament will see Ethiopia face South Sudan on November 4th in Njeru, before Uganda alsotake to the field against Djibouti on that same day.
Tanzania, who are in group B will open up their campaign against Somalia on November 5th. Zanzibar ans Rwanda are the other opponents in that group.
This tournament will run from November 4-16th, 2023 with all games hosted at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Kenya, Sudan, Burundi and Eritrea are the member Associations of CECAFA who will not take part in this championship.
” We expect to have a very competitive competition and we are using the competition to prepare our youngsters ahead of the AFCON U-17 Zonal qualifiers next year, ” said Gecheo.
Uganda Rhinos are the defending champions of this Championship after having beaten Kenya in 2019 to lift the inaugural trophy in Asmara, Eritrea.
