KCCA FC suffered a 2 -1 loss away to Mbarara City thanks to Bebe’s 70th-minute goal that gave the hosts their first win in the encounter.
KCCA FC’s head coach Mike Hilary Mutebi missed the trip to Mbarara where Brian Ssenyondo’s Mbarara City tamed the defending champions’ surge for the top spot.
Immediately after the game, The Touchline Sports’ Peter Henry Mutebi caught up with one of KCCA FC’s board members (name withheld) in a one on one chat about why ‘the Gaffer’ failed to show for the game in Mbarara.
I have also been shocked not seeing our head coach on the bench and I didn’t know the reason but i was later briefed about the situation.
According to the chat, the manager came past the agreed time of departure (which was 6 am).
The bus had already set-off for Mbarara and some players too had been left.
However, they later made a brief stop-over at Nsangi to wait for the people they had left behind. The players were handed transport facilitation of 30,000/= (Thirty thousand shillings) so as to catch up with the team quickly but still, the manager didn’t show up.
Mbarara City picked up 3 points against KCCA FC for the first time since being promoted to the top-flight. An equalizer from Ibrahim Orit and Swalik Bebe’s 71st-minute strike ensured that the Ankole Lions’s third win in three with a 2-1 win over the 13-time Uganda first division champions.
Could it be that Mike Mutebi had predicted the unfortunate result?
We are yet to know why Mike Mutebi failed to show up for the game and what’s ahead but we shall keep you posted on the matter as it unfolds.
